Dear parents of the Pre-Kindergarten @ DSKI class of 2020/21,

A heartfelt welcome to the new parents and welcome back to our parents who have been with our school.

I hope you all had a relaxing summer with your families.

I am so excited to be the children's Pre-Kindergarten teacher this year and I am looking forward to a fun school year with many new discoveries.

The children will have plenty of opportunities to grow, learn, challenge themselves and make good friends in a caring and safe environment.

Please do not hesitate to approach me with any questions you may have.

Wishing you a good weekend and see you next week!

Pre-KG Ready, map, go !

Pre-KG

Ready, map, go !

The Pre– Kindergarten children have been learning a lot about animals and were looking forward to seeing many different species on their excursion.

In preparation of their trip, they looked at the map of Kobe Animal Kingdom and found many interesting details.

They also discovered some of the featured animals in their toy boxes, put animal families together and then  build their own zoo. Great observation skills, Pre– Kindergarten !

Eating the Alphabet

In the 2nd week back at school, the Pre–KG children took the book "Eating the Alphabet" as an inspiration to learn about a greater variety of fruits and vegetables. They were amazed at some unusual items and happy to find familiar ones they knew. At the end of the week they showed amazing understanding and speed during a fruit and veggies quiz.

Happy New Year of the Mouse

The Pre-Kindergarten children came back to class happily and celebrated the New Year and their new unit "Animals and Food" by having a tea party.

They talked about the items necessary for such a party and started to set the table with cups, plates, and cakes. After further discussion, more items were added. Everyone helped and had some ideas and in the end the children enjoyed their party with a mouse themed cookie.

To make an additional connection of the new subject in the world around them,  the class then went on an excursion to the Fashion Museum to see a wonderful exhibition about afternoon tea settings. The children were quite fascinated by the beautiful items and had many comments and questions.

What a great start into the New Year of the inquisitive Mouse ! Happy 2020, everyone !

Welcoming New Friends

In the week from 25th to 29th November, the Pre–Kindergarten children were happy to welcome 2 new friends into their class. They showed a very caring attitude towards the 2 little newcomers, playing with them, sharing toys, helping them with routines and making them feel comfortable in their new surroundings.

It was heartwarming to see how all 12 children were starting to come together as a group, each child with their different strengths.

Playdough Power

In the week of 18th to 21st November the Pre–KG children challenged themselves in a great Playdough session. Playdough not only helps children to develop strength and control in their hands and fingers, it also fosters creativity and language. And while the children rolled and squished the Playdough, created shapes and compared sizes, they also used a their science skills.  The children had lots of fun and made some amazing things.

11th October Growing Together

Growing Together

In the week of 7th to 11th October, the Pre– KG children demonstrated that they are really growing together as a group and are capable of sharing space and ideas.

They were very relaxed in each other's company whether reading books together or making chalk paintings.

On the last day of the week, the Pre– KG children measured each other's height, showing confidence and trust into their friends' help.

The week ended with playtime on the nearby Green Field where the children joined hands for a joyful run !

Great sharing, caring and fostering friendships, Pre–KG !
