Kindergarten Blog, Mar.5 : Sun Stories and Our Talents!

This week has been full of fun learning experiences for the children in Kindergarten:

In the Blue Team, the students finished a movie related to what they've been learning in our yearlong unit under Sharing the Planet. Since they are talking about night and day, they found many beautiful stories about night but could not find good day story. The children decided to make their own "sun" story. Please watch the movie what came out from the creative thinking and collaborative work in the class.

To continue our inquiry on our Who We Are unit, the students from the yellow team unlocked the word ‘talent’ this week and shared some of the things they are good at. The students shared that they are good at riding the bicycle, taking care of flowers, playing video games, drawing, and even at making and selling ice cream — we can’t wait to try their ice cold treats!

Since our talents are meant to be shared, the students have started preparing for a mini-talent show. We practiced how to sequence events, and learned about the importance of following the correct steps to get the right outcome. It’s interesting to see how they can break down what they’re good at into different steps — they’re developing into better communicators every week!

The children also continued learning about the letters — letters S and A this week — through games and crafts! They all showed how they can be thinkers by figuring out how to complete their scavenger hunt lists, and were creative in their answers, too!

For our Sharing the Planet unit, the students have made progress on the seasons trees that we’re “planting” in the classroom. They’ve now created the leaves and the flowers that go on the trees!
